BANK RATE
ANOTHER REDUCTION WILDLY CHEERED. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received Friday, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. The announcement of a reduced bank rate, to 4 per cent, was wildly cheered by excited crowds, who disorganised traffic as they rushed headlong to telegraph and telephone to advise interested parties. The decision will help business men to carry stocks of commodities on borrowed money, enabling the maintenance and even much-needed improvement in commodity prices. The stock market did not react to the lower rate, as it was already discounted during the week.
