(Received Saturday, 5.30 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This. Day,
The election for the East Sydney Federal seat, due to Mr Clasby’s death, has been fixed for February 6. So far there are four nominations — Mr William McCall, United Australia Party; Mr Percy Coleman, Official Federal Labourite; Mr E. J. Ward, State Labourite, otherwise Lang Planner, whom Mr Clasby defeated at the recent elections; and Mr J. Milesh, Communist. Mr Coleman formerly represented the Reid electorate. LANG’S UNCERTAIN HOLD. (Received Saturday, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Mr. T, R. Bavin on his arrival from Sydney, said the results in New South Wales of the recent Federal elections were satisfactory but there was no possible hope of any real restoration of confidence or any return to prosperity while Mr. J. T. Lang remained in office. Although ho was kept in office by servile majority, Mr. Lang had now a very uncertain hold on his office.
