SOUTH AUSTRALIA’S BAD START,

ADELAIDE, Friday

South Australia had a perfect wicket and ideal weather for the return match with the Springboks, but caught tho visiting bowlers at their best. McMillan was unplayable at times. Richardson’s breezy 53, which included two sixes, and Nitchke’s stolid 63 provided a good start, but the tailenders failed dismally. For South Africa, Christy, magnificently stylish, hit out at all the bowlers. He made 74 in 70 minutes, including two sixes and eight fours. He was fearless against Grimmett, compiling 19, with two sixes, in one over. Details:— SOUTH AUSTRALIA. First Innings. Richardson, b McMillan ........ 53 Nitschke, b McMillan 62 Lonergan, st.
