RADIUM IN AUSTRIA
VALUABLE AREA LOCATED. VIENNA, Tuesday. A water diviner, using an old silver watch chain as a pendulum, obtained such reactions at Neuhaus, near Lintz, that he guaranteed that water was available 9 feet down. Borings did not yield water. The diviner was so puzzled that he sent a sample of the earth to the Government Research Institute, which reported that it had the highest radium content hitherto found in Europe. Eleven thousand tons of earth would yield a kilogramme (about 2:|lbs) of puro radium.
