Twenty per *eent of the AA'hite population, including the district medical officer at Broome and surrounding districts, are laid up Avith a seA'ere illness, belieA'ed to be pneumonic influenza. In some cases Avbole families are in bed. Five deaths have occurred. Forty per cent of the blacks are suffering. Two hundred and thirty inhabitants of the Beagle Bay Mission Station are ill, including the fathers and sisters of the convent.
