MISHAP TO PLANE
PILOT LOSES WAY. forced landing at opaki. 'Paving to fog and extremely p.odivisibility the pilot of a W ellington Aero Club ’plane had to make a forced landing in a paddock at Opaki yesterday afternoon. On arrival at Masterton the pilot, a Mr Taylor, could not pick np the Wairarapa Aero Club’s landing ground and circled round Mas- " terton. Mr J. B. Le Quesne, a member of the Wairarapa Club went up in an endeavour to find and direct the visiting airman. Owing to the bad conditions Mr Le Quesne had a narrow escaajfi from crashing into a clump ot tre«^ In' “landing at Opaki the Wellington ’plane crashed into a fence, and its propellor was broken and a wing damaged. The pilot escaped injury. The ■damaged ’plane was later removed by lorry to the Wairarapa Aero Club s aerodrome at South Road.
