Scott is now two hours inside of Kingsford Smith’s record time at this stage of the England-Australia journey. The Cambridge aviators, Eairbairii and Shenstone, have arrived. ARRIVAL AT CALCUTTA. (Received Tuesday, 9.5 a.m.) DELHI, Monday. Scott lias arrived at Calcutta. He is now- half a- day behind his own schedule, but six hours ahead of Kingsford Smith’s record. If, however, he can reach Singapore in two days from Calcutta, he will "have overtaken his own schedule. RECORDS BROKEN. ■' (Received Tuesday, 11.0 a.m.) ■ CAPETOWN, Monday. Commander Glen -Kidson, who left England on Tuesday morning last, landed this eveiling at the Maitland Aerodrome, the flight taking 6 days 10 hours. He has thus broken all previous records to the' Cape by at. least three days. Kidson stated: —“If I can . carry through on a single trip like this as a private owner without proper organisation, it must stand to reason that a commercial company, operating on the same route with relays of machines, will be able to do the journey much quicker. ” He considers that the Imperial Highways schedule of twelve days for the same, flight ridiculous, and urges that the expeditious transport of mails is of the utmost Imperial importance. AN AIR MAIL. LONDON, Monday. The first Australian Air Mail left. Croydon at 5.30 a.m. The air mail carried a total of 50,000 letters, 35,000 of which comprised the ordinary weekly mail for India and Central Africa. The remainder came as the first consignment for Australia, which is considered to be a splendid response from the public, showing national interest in the experiment. Incidentally a uumbe,r of diplomatic documents for the Australian Government have been airmailed.
