M ECONOMY SESSION. FURTHER TAXATION PROPOSED. . Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright ;J £t (Received Tuesday, 10.0 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The “Herald” says that measures are being drafted by Mr J. A. Lyons (Minister for Works and Railways) and officials of the Treasury and the Taxation Department for a special economy session of Parliament, commencing on October 30th. They will, it is understood, provide for an increase of the sales tax to meet the deficiency in revenue from this source. The measures are also expected to include an amending income tax bill to provide for increased taxation, on larger incomes. To counteract the falling revenue from Customs and excise, there will probably be amendments to the Customs and excise tariff schedules.
