The Sharkey-Campolo fight was definitely cancelled to-day, as it had given indications of financial failure.
WIN FOR PURDY.
SYDNEY, Friday,
'Charlie Purdy (New Zealand), lOst. defeated Alby Roberts, 9st. 131 b., at Newtown.
Purdy was knocked down in the first round, and needed all his defensive skill to last out the Tound. 'He was in excellent form, however, and his evasions bewildered Roberts, who was cam tioned for punching on the back of the neck. In the fifth round Roberts knocked out Purdy with an illegal punch, and was promptly disqualified. DONOVAN AND GILLESPIE. GISBORNE, Friday. The Gisborne Boxing Association signed up yesterday for a match between Tommy Donovan and Norman Gillespie (Australia) for a £2OO purse. The contest is to be held on November 1.
