FIXTURES. Mareh 15, 17.-—Wellington R.C. March 17—Opunake. March 20—Waimate. March 22—Bay of Plenty. March 22, 24—Oamarn. March 26—Opotiki. April 4 and s—Masterton.5 —Masterton. TURF NOTES. F. Christmas will bo at Trentham with Red Heckle and Flair. The former, though a delicate horse, has done a lot of useful work lately. He is a great galloper and will take a lot of beating in the Thompson Handicap. Flair has been moving rather gexatehily of late, but sho is a smart sprinter, who may pay to follow. R. W. King will make a trip to Trentham with Aberfeldy. He may not be sufficiently forward to show his best form yet, but he will be a good horse to keep in mind a little later in the season.

Dr. M. G. Louisson’s recent purchase, Gay Crest, should earn some more money at Trentham, where he is engaged in the high weight event and the mile hack race on the opening day. He shapes like staying. Ho will be accompanied by the two-year-old Adelphi, but this well-grown youngster may require more time.

W. Stone has Aspiring and Lord Thomond engaged at Trentham. Lord Thomond is a speedy hack, who should win plenty of races, and he may get some money on this trip. Aspiring is brilliant, but she was lame after a gallop on Saturday, and her programme may be subject to revision.

To Awhina is booked for another trip to Trentham, where sho showed good form in January. R. Ellis has her looking at her best, and she should pay her way on the trip, though the Thompson Handicap, on the first day, will be a hard race to win.

Sir George Clifford will have four horses racing at the Wellington meeting after which they will go on to Awapuni. The three-year-ohl, Waterline, is the one who will attract most attention. He commenced his racing career by winning a maiden event at Trentham in January, and since then he has come into the limelight by searing twice in open company. Ho is a big fellow, with a loug stride, and his winning effort i in: the Midsummer Handicap at Riecarton marked him off for higher honours as a stayer. He will be hard to beat in the St. Leger next Saturday, and he will not be out of place in the Trentham Gold Cup and Awapuni Gold Cup. Full Feather is in good fettle, and only has to show his best form to race well on the trip. Hnrly Burly - may pick up some money among the hacks. The fourth member of the team, the two-year-old, Ball Dress, has a fair turn of spoed, but sho is small, and she may not get beyond nseful class, states the sporting writer in the ‘'Christchurch Star.”
