Press Association-Electric Teletrapl.-CouyrigL

(Received Wednesday, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Tuesday.

There was an awe-inspiring spectacle at Liverpool when the French steamer Oklaliama, laden with cotton nitrate and sugar, caught fire.

There were a series of terrific explosions? which broke her, and as she was sinking with a rush a solid wall of flame rose 200 feet high. Tho flying debris damaged the deck fittings of the Buteshire, which was loading for Australia. The Buteshire herself was momentarily in danger but the crew averted a fire.—A. and N.Z. P.A.
