ODDFELLOWS LODGE.
ENJOYABLE DANCE. One of the most enjoyable dances ever held in Masterton was that of the Oddfellows’ Lodge in the Masonic Hall last night. There was a very large attendance, the floor being packed for each dance. The excellent floor at the Masonic Hall added to the pleasure of the dancing, while the music supplied by the Gaiety Orchestra was splendid, encores being the order of the evening. The M’s.C. (Messrs N. Catkerall and T. l'oung) proved themselves to be the right officials for their work, and they spared no effort to see that the dancers had a really good time. The manner in which they carried out their duties was greatly appreciated by those present, because nowadays M’s.C. are usually figureheads at a dance, and do not seem to have any idea as to what their duties really are. In seeing that everybody had partners, they materially ajkted in making the gathering such a access. Extras were played by Miss Seddon, and Messrs Peters, K. Gillpn and Minifie. A dainty supper was provide# The ladies’ committee, headed .by Mrs Seddon, are to be congratulated on the splendid manner in which they, carried out their duties, sparing no effort to see that, as far as they were concerned, the function would be a The Lodge has an excellent ladies* committee, and is very fortunate in this respect. • ' The joint secretaries (Messrs N. Catherall and T. Young) and other officials of the Lodge, saw to it that all the arrangements'were complete down to the smallest detail, and that is what .lias made the dances held by the Lodge this year so successful. Mr B. Seddon, N.G., is also deserving of a special word of praise for his untiring efforts to assure a pleasant evening for all, while Mr Percy Smith was another very valuable official.
