ARRIVAL AT BLUFF. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Sunday. Anxious to learn as much as possible concerning methods of farming in New Zealand a party , of Tasmanian fanners numbering 2S, including two ladies, landed at the Bluff from the Manuka this morning. The travellers will spend three days in Southland before continuing their journey northwards.
A pleasant crossing was made over the Tasman-and all landed fit' and well.
A hearty welcome to the Dominion was extended on the wharf by a party representative of Southland public bodies.
NO VISIT TO MASTERTON. In connection with the visit of the Tasmanian farmers to New Zealand Mr T. Jordan (Mayor of Masterton), sent a communication to Mr Gilliers, the representative of the Tasmanian Government with the party, urging that the WairaTapa be visited. Mr Gilliers has' replied regretting that the short stay in the Dominion made it impossible for the party to visit Masterton.
As was previously stated in the “Daily Times” Mr Jordan had been in touch with Mr Poison, President of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union ; on the subject.
