The Full Court sustained the judgment wherein John McGregor, horsetrainer, obtained £IOOO damages tor libel against Heland and the “Weekly Times,” in respect to an article by its sporting contributor. —Australian and N.Z. TOTE MAY BE ADOPTED. LONDON, Thursday. In the House of Commons, in the course of the Budget discussions, Mr Churchill admitted that the betting tax could not be worked smoothly and that the result was disappointing. Evasion was widespread. He prophesied the early adoption of the totalisator, when it might be possible to reconsider the betting tax.
