NELSON’S ACTIVITIES.
STRONGLY CONDEMNED. BY MANDATES COMMISSION. .Press Asaociation--Electric Telegraph-Copyright (Received Friday, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. The Genova Mandates Commission's report on Samoa condemns, in the strongest terms, Nelson’s activities, but considers that General Richardson did not act with sufficient firmness in the early stages and hopes that the forces now available on the Island will enable the maintenance of order in future.
Regarding the Native petition the report states that the facts contained therein are fully covered in the Royal Commission’s report. The Mandates Commission’s report is quite brief. There were two opinions in the Commission. One favoured a still briefer report, while the other desired to deal with each point raised seriatum. The result amounts to a compromise not satisfying to either side.—Australian and N.Z. Press Assn.—United Service.
