CAUGHT RED HANDED.

GISBORNE BURGLAR. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) GISBORNE, Thursday. Smart work by the Gisborne police resulted in the arrest of an alleged burglar this; evening. Last week 1 the premises of Adair Bros., drapers, were broken into and ■shirts and hats, were stolen. This mornings signs were found of a further entry having been made on.. Wednesday night. ' .. <. . The police determined to keep watch, and Detective McLeod and Plain Clothes Constable King waited on the premises to-night. They had been there for two hours when footsteps were heard on the roof. Detective McLeod climbed the back portion of the building, apparently frightening the intruder, who was using a ladder and reached the ground at the side. Constable King heprd the movements and met the man and arrested him. A heavy tyre lever and a torch were found in his possession. A subsequent visit to his home resulted in the recovery of £IOO worth of goods. The man is married and lias two children.
