CHEAPER PETROL.
CANTERBURY PROJECT. CONDEMNED IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, Tuesday. Whether motorists should import their own petrol, as is to be done by the Canterbury Automobile Association, is the subject of discussion in Sydney, but representative men disapprove. They argue that the price of petrol is not unreasonable. The country charges merely have freight added, while the distributors work all hours every day of the week for the convenience of motorists.
One prominent commercial man, Mr Boyd Ed kins, declared that the Canterbury experiment would not last long. Another, Mr Murdoch, M.L.C., opined that Canterbury must be getting cheap Mexican spirit.
