STRONG PROTEST.

(By Telegraph —Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., This Day.

Following upon a notification from the Palmerston North hospital of increased levies for the coming year and also the estimates of capital expenditure including the new two-storey block of buildings, the Borough Council last evening passed a resolution requesting the Government to appoint ten independent commission to inquire into the whole matter of expenditure, the Council considering it unnecessary.

As a preliminary step it was decided to arrange for a deputation to meet the Hon. J. A. Young when he visits Palmerston on Monday next and place the Council’s views before him.
