SHEFFIELD SHIELD. SYDNEY, Friday. The Sheffield Shield match, New South Wales against South Australia, commenced to-day. The local side, batting first, made 291 (Jackson 131, Andrews 44). Scott took two wickets for 57, Wall four for 51, and Grinnnett two for 100. .South Australia, in the first innings, had three wickets down for 02 (Ryan not out 30) when stumps were drawn. OTAGO v. WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, This Day. Otago has lost seven wickets for 201 runs (Cherrv 05, Alloo 58).
