HORRIBLE ACCIDENT.
LORRY CATCHES FIRE. DRIVER BURNED TO DEATH. (Received Friday, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. A horrible accident occurred at Ifeckeliffe when a motor lorry skidded through a hedge, down a bank, and the petrol tank'"'exploded, setting fire to a load of six tons of phosphorus powder contained in shell eases. The driver, Rivett, was pinned down and screamed, “I'm burning alive.” Rescuers strove their hardest to rescue him. The load then exploded, injuring four, including a man named Wagstaffe,' who caught fire and was partially blinded. Rivett suffered an agonising -death.
