NOT HOSTILE TO JESUS.
JEWS OF TO-DAY. LONDON, Monday. Preaching at the Liberal Synagogue, in London, Rabbi Mattuek denied that dews to-day were hostile to Jesus. They do not, he said, feel the necessity of exonerating the Jews for the Crucifixion. The Jews then loved Christ as a possible King, the priests hated Him because lie was a dangerous rival, the Romans crucified Him as a possible supplanter. Yet the Jews for nineteen centuries had suffered for the crimes of a few. Unless Christians to-day showed Christ’s spirit to the Jews, they could not expect Jews to admire Jesus, who was a great Jew.—“ Sun.”
