An announcement that two shillings extra per day, starting from June last, Avill be paid to qualified fleet air pilots and naval •observer officers appointed to submarines carrying aircraft, surprised naA'al circles, Avhich have for a long time known that experiments Averc being made Avith submarines capable of carrying aircraft. HoweA'er, the experiments were regarded as in the “hush-hush” category, and it Avas not expected that the Admiralty Avould reveal this more or less, secret activity, as the experiments are not yet finished. It is a ditlicult problem, OAving to limited space, to accommodate aircraft, but great progress has been made in this connection. Other navies are engaged in similar experiments, leading to greater doubts as to the expediency of revealing Avliat Britain is doing. OUT BY MISTAKE. LONDON, Monday.
