The Louvre authorities submitted Da Vinci's Mona Lisa to X-ray and ultraviolet tests, and announce that they conclusively proved that the painted pigments are of 1500, which is about the right date; also there have been no alterations since they were first painted. M. Verne, director of the Louvre, also, submitted the whole nine thousand pictures of the collection to X-ray and violetted photographing, though he refuses to publish the results. The news that the Mona Lisa is authentic. despite the theft of August, 19] 1, however, is too good to be kept secret.
