SPECTACULAR FIRE.
ON WATERFRONT. (Received Saturday, 12.15 p.m.) OTTAWA, Friday. The Hoboken Clyde steamship Seneca was burned, ..probably beyond salvage, and two piers were destroyed, at Montreal, when a spectacular fire swept the waterfront. Many other vessels were barely pulled from the '/lames by tugs. Some, however, were badly scorched and crippled. The damage is estimated at over £200,000. The fire is believed to have started when a. spark from an acetylene, torch fell upon the oil-covered water. One fireman was severely burned.
