Mr J. E. Ilenrys, the well-known handicapper, arrived at "Wellington yesterday from a trip to England, America and Australia.

It is stated that Mr Ben Roberts, of Park vale, is jikelv to be the official Labour candidate for the Alasterton seat a; the next general election. Mrs Baird, of Colstoun, a sister of the Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson), arrived by the Ruahine yesterday on a visit to her brother. Mr Harry Stunnell is severing his connection with the Greytown branch of the W.F.C.A. to engage as sales manager at Nichols’ garage at Greytown.

The Rev. "W. Weymouth, who is at present attending the Congregational camp at Paekakariki as chaplain, will return to Masterton on Monday night. Rev. Mother Arcilious Cushion, recently Mother Superior of Liston, died at the Sacred Heart Convent, Christchurch, on Thursday after a long illness. Deceased was a cousin of Aliss Cushion, Masterton.

The engagement is announced of Miss Alabel Mason, third daughter of Air and Airs .T. R. Alason, Alasterton, to Air G. Fahey, second son of the late Air and Airs F. N. Fahey, of Musselborough, Dunedin. The engagement is announced of Mr Sydney Lee, eldest 'son of Mrs Trevorrow, of Alakora ’Road, Alasterton, to Atiss Edith Wilton, second daughter of Air and Airs Wilton, Hogg Crescent, Alasterton.

Air Maurice Harris has resigned from the staff of the W.F.C.A. at Pahiatua, and will leave on January 19th for Sydney, where he has accepted a position with Atessrs Alar’ks and Saulwiek. His place.will be taken by Air Peterson. of Eketahuna.

The marriage took place at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, AVellington, on Wednesday of the Rev. E. AlcLevic, of Alasterton, and Miss Faire, of Wadestown, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Sprott. Air and Airs McLevie are spending their honeymoon in the Alarlborough Sounds.

The funeral of the late Air W. IT. Cole took place in Alasterton yesterday afternon. There was a representative attendance of mourners. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. W. Bullock. Afany beautiful floral tributes were received. The pall-bearers were Alessrs G. L. Scrivener and F. Excll (representing the Foresters’ Lodge), T. B. Braggins (Park Bowling Club), and Superintendent A. E. Freeman, Deputy Superintendent Alinett and Fireman IT. Braggins (Masterton Fire Brigade).
