KESKINEN WINS DECATHLON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WE LLINGTON, Thursday. The Australian and New Zealand amateur track and field championships concluded at Athletic Parle to-day, when the second stage of the decathlon was decided. The competitors had to contend with a strong northerly wind, rain and a slippery track. E. Keskinen. (Queensland) did very well under the circumstances. He won the event with a total of 6455.78 points and established a now decathlon record for Australia and New Zealand. E. G. Sutherland (New Zealand) gained second place, scoring 5942.60 points altogether. Sutherland, who represented South Africa at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924. was below his best form. At the last Olympiad he gained fifth place in the decathlon, scoring 6794.142 points. The winner on that occasion was 11. M. Osborne (U.S.A.), who established a world’s record for the event.
