ENGLISH TEAM DEFEAT N.S.W. SYDNEY, Thursday. The English croquet team played the second series of tests against New South Wales. In the doubles, Aliss Steele and Colonel Dupre (England) beat Airs Aloorc and A. Taylcs, 26/23, 26/27; Sir Francis Wemyss and Windsor Richards (England) beat Taylcs and Airs Ivindon, 26/9, 245/3. In the singles, Windsor Richards (England) boat. Airs Kindon, 26/0: Aliss Rcfallack (England) beat Aliss Jarvis, 26/S. . AIASTERTON COMPETITION. A very pleaasnt afternoon was spent vesterday on the Alasterton couits when competitions were indulged in, the prize being a trophy sent from Auckland by Airs T. Best, a late vicepresident of the Club. The winner was Airs J. Allan with an aggregate score of 39 points and Alesdames Clayson and Spa ekm a n tied for second place with 57 poiffts.
