ACROSS THE ATLANTIC.
FAST FRENCH STEAMER. USE OF SEAPLANES. PARIS, Thursday. The fast 43,500-ton steamer lie de France is being equipped with a liveton 15-passenger aeroplane, capable of carrying alternatively two tons of: mail, states the president of the Academy of Maritime Affairs. He adds that shipbuilding has so progressed that it is impossible to produce faster and more economical liners. As the ships cannot be speeded up, the only way in which the Atlantic crossing can be reduced to four days is to use seaplanes, whereby he hopes to save 15 hours at each end.
