The Australian Lawn Tennis Association has been advised that the French lawn tennis players sailed from San Francisco by the Alakura to-day, and will arrive in Wellington on January 16th. SOUTH WAIRARAPA TOURNEY. The South Wairarapa lawn tennis championship and handicap tournament, was continued at Alartinborough yesterday under very favourable conditions. It was originally intended that the finals would be contested to-day, but the entries were so large that the elimination rounds have not yet been completed, and it is likely that the 'best Jaij-t of to-morrow will be taken up before the tournament is concluded. Interest in the tournament is quickening with the better class players being gradually drown together, and it is anticipated that the semi-finals and finals will produce some excellent tennis.
