MANGATAINOKA SPORTS.

ENJOYABLE GATHERING. Tlie twenty-eighth annual meeting of the Mangatainoka Amateur Sports Club was held on the Mangatainoka Domain on Boxing Day. There was a record attendance. Although the gate receipts were £fi less than last year’s record of £SG, the difference was largely balanced by the increased membership. Entries were remarkably good, necessitating heats in most events, and close and exciting finishes testified to competent handicapping. Air Wilton (secretary) and the capable officials responsible for the expeditious handling of all events, deserve congratulation, prominent being Messrs E. L. Harvey, president; E. H. Lett and .T. McKenzie, judges; R. A. Williams, referee and handieapper; A. J. Morgan, starter; and A.-McPherson and A. Ross, piping and dancing stewards. Messrs G. Feeble (horses) and C. Dickson (piping and dancing) capably judged these events. Frank Williams headed the list with G. Osborne second, for the points prize for the £lO 10s cup donated by Air and Airs F. H. Lett.
