TEST MATCH. XEW ZEALAND BEATEN. MELBOURNE, Thursday. The first test, Australia versus New Zealand, resulted:—Australia, IH, New Zealand 78. The Australian team consisted of four State rinks. Scores: —West 27 defeated New Zealand 17; New Zealand 29 defeated Tasmania 26; Victoria 25 defeated -New Zealand Hi; New South Wales 26 defeated New Zealand 16. HOLIDAY TOURNAMENTS. The Wuirarapa Bowling Centre has already received thirteen entries for its New Tear tournament, to be held on the Mnstcrton Club’s greens on January 2nd and 3rd. Three Wellington rinks have so far entered, and others are expected. The entries for this fixture close next week. The ,Masterton Bowling Club u ill hold a progressive pairs tournament on Monday and Tuesday next week, open to all comers. Entries close at the green to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
