RACING OFFICIAL FAREWELLED. A very pleasant function recently took place, when a prominent racing oflicial was farewelled prior to leaving the country. Jn the course of the evening, when the air was blue with smoke, he rose to make reply: ‘■Gentlemen,’’ lie said, ‘‘l see around me to-night many happy faces. I hope it‘s not because I’m going away!"
