CASTLEPOINT COUNTY.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. At the meeting of the Castlcpoint County Council held on Saturday last there were present Crs. S. Schofield (Chairman), W. CL Groves, S. Holdsworth, D. H. Speedy, C. Palliser, W, 11. Dickens, and A. A. Schofield. Approved specifications for metalling 204 chains of the Manawa-Alfrcdton Road, and for metalling 13 chains of the Otahome Road were received from the District Engineer. 'The Marine Department advised as to the general terms on which the control of the landing jetty at Castlcpoint would be vested in the Council. In view of the small number of settlers using the landing service, the Council decided against having the control of the landing jetty vested in it, under .the Harbours’ Act, 1923. A ratepayer’s offer to provide an equal number of men with the Council, for the purpose of opening up the Peak’s Ford was accepted. Accounts amounting to £BOO 2s 2d were passed for payment.
