annual breaking-up. V Yesterday an enjoyable afternoon nvas spent at the school, the occasion being the annual break-up and prize.giving. Unfortunately, owing to the inclem.ency of the weather, the function had to be held indoors, instead of in the grounds, as usual. Following the custom of past years, prizes were given to all the children in the primer classes, of whom there ucrc twenty. The prize-winners in the standards •were as follows: —Standard 1, John Dude and Hazel Matthews (equal);, St. .2, Albert Elliott; Si. 3, Madge Bray; .(St. 4, Joan Crookenden;,, St. 5, George McClymont; St. 6, Molly Naughton. Special prizes for the sewing classes were woi^by: —Seniors, Merle Elliott .and Efilfcoick, equal; juniors, Hazel Matthew's 1, Kongo Xgatuere 2. Mrs Isaacson again acted as judge of the sewing, and remarked that the work done reflected great credit on the girls in the classes. Special prizes for sewing were donated by Mrs Isaacson (won by Avis Dick) and Miss Halpin, assistant teacher (won by Sybil Crookenden). A special prize, also donated by Miss Halpin, for diligence, was awarded to Yimi Thorby. « There was a large attendance of par•ents and friends, in addition to the members of the school committee. The prizes were presented by Mr -G. McClymont, chairman. After the presentation, the ladies dispensed afternoon tea, to which full .justice was done, especially by the girls .and boys. PROMOTIONS.
