DUNEDIN SALE. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) DUNEDIN,' Monday. A drop in the price at the Christchurch wool sales was most marked in ,t;he crossbreds, and the prices obtained arc considered to be below unpayable point to the grower. As about 75 per cent, ot' the catalogue at Ohristoihurch consists of halfbred and merinos, the declines does not serious.y affect the Canterbury community. There will be a large percentage of crossbred at the Dunedin sales this month, but it is said on authority that the quality of the Otago crossbred wools will be higher than that submitted at Christchurch, so that there is a possibility of the prices for that classof wool reaching nearly, if not quite, a. payable point.

BROKERS’ REPORTS. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report:—We held •our second 'wool stale of the season iu Wellington yesterday. Our catalogue comprised approximately ISOO bale?, a very fine collection including some good light-conditioned wool, mainly crossbred. A full attendance of buyers occupied the benches, and bidding was particularly keen and animated throughout. Competition came largely from American, Continental and Bradford buyers, while Dominion scourers were prominent for suitable lots. A comparison with last sale shows the market from par to halfpenny, and very occasionally one penny, higher, but the early bidding was hardly sustained, and as orders were filled prices were occasionally easier later on in the series. Good hogget wool was in keen demand, and brought on the who! ■ very good prices, but lots showing :.'?ed were at times in poor demand, and did not show an increase on prices ruling at the last sale. Southdown sold particularly well, one lot branded FIRS reaching 19d. and the balance sold at 17Ad to ISM. Pieces and bellies were in good demand from France. The chief competition came from Bradford aiul the Continent, limited buying being done by America. Generally, when compared with the last Wellington sale, prices were well in sellers’ favour.
