FREEZING DISPUTE.
A NEW AWARD. EXPECTED BEFORE CHRISTMAS. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Conciliation Council proceedings in connection with the application for a new Dominion award for the freezing industry will be opened in Wellington on Monday. It is possible that the Arbitration Court will deal with the case about a week later. A new award is expected to be is'sued before Christmas. VOLUNTEERS RETAINED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Monday. Now that the strike is 1 over there is no lack of labour in any- department of the Longburn freezing works, which to-morrow will commence killing operations with union labour, in addition to the volunteer workers already" employed. It is stated that the butchers will comprise nine members of the original union and about fifteen volunteers, whose services it is intended shall be retained throughout the s'eason.
