DARING ESCAPE.
FROM Mt. EDEN GAOL. • (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Samuel Arthur Pudney, aged 35, a habitual criminal, serving two years’ imprisonment, daring.y escaped from Mount Eden gaol at 7.30 o’clock last night. He made an excuse to visit the quarry and seizing a favourable opportunity dashed through the open gate in the face of the pursuing warders. He got away under the cover of darkness, and despite a vigilant search he is still at large.
