BUTCHERS’ BIG PROFITS. (Received Saturday, 9.4.> a.m.) LONDON. Friday. Though butchers gave evidence before the Food Prices Commission in that 20 per cent on cost, waS a fair gross profit, Hie Food Council’s report to-day says that the Council lias carefully watched the Smithfield retail price lists for the guidance of housewives, and found that over a period of 2<i weeks in 192(5, prices' of Scottish and Argentine beef were 50 per cent above cost, aud in one week 70 per cent.
