Having disregarded Judge Beeby’s offer, the Watersiders’ Federation is now making efforts 1 to effect agreements with different shipping companies by direct negotiation. Already agreements have been Teached with two smaller companies;, the watersiders claim, on their own terms’. Heavy losses are being sustained by both shipowners and shippers, owing to the strike. Delay's in the sailings of steamers from various' Australian ports are frequent, some being four days behind schedule time. Several coastal vessels are laid up, and the crews have been paid off.
