BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.

TO-MORROW’S CARNIVAL. Further details in connection with the Mnstcrton Beautifying Society’s Carnival to-morrow were arranged last evening at a meeting of the committee of the society. In the event of the weather being wet the ladies’ stall and the sideshows will be erected in the Municipal Hall, where the whole of the programme, with the exception of the •athletic, and- swindling events, will be given.

A novyl balloon competition lots been arranged. Twelve gross of balloons have been. secured and these will be numbered and tickets sold corresponding to the numbers. During the afternoon the balloons will be released and a prize given to the first person returning a balloon to the secretary, and another prize to the person in possession of tho ticket bearing the number of the balloon first returned.

An attractive and gorgeous fireworks display will be given in the evening procession, between Queen’s hotel and tho Park gates, by members of the Fire Brigade.

Twelve entries have been received to date for the tug-o-war competition as follow: Plumbers, Kaituna, P. and T. (A. and B.), Borough Council, Fire Brigade, Caledonian Society, Beautifying Society, Athletic- Club, Municipal Band, C. E. Daniell, Ltd., and Carriers.

The Municipal Band will be in at tendance.

The handsome gold watch to lie presented to the winner of the competition for the best fancy dresses worn in tho procession, in connection with the Masterton Beautifying Society’s Carnival, to be held to-morrow night:, is now on view in Mr L. S. Nic-ol’s window.
