A cablegram from 'Paris reports the death of Princess Therese, wife, of His Highness, the Aga Khan. Professor J. Shelly, of Canterbury College, has advised thcVWairarapa Secondary School Board that he will attend the breaking-up ceremony of the Wairarapa High School this month. Airs E. 11. Waddington and Aliss E. Waddington, who have been spending some months at Paekakariki, have left for Auckland, where they intend making a long visit.
Air John Farrell, representing J. C. Williamson, Ltd., arrived in Alasterton yesterday to complete arrangements for the production of “The Gondoliers,” to be staged on Alonday, December Hi.
Air C. E. Daniell left- to-day, accompanied by bis daughter, Aliss E. Daniell, on a holiday trip to Christchurch. Air Daniell will return to Alasterton in time to attend the breaking-up functions at the High School and the Technical School.
A London cable states that Air Gordon Coates will probably sail for New Zealand in the first week in January. Aleanwhile he is inquiring into railway fuel economies adaptable to Now Zealand. lie will go to France next week and will visit the battlefield, and will unveil several New Zealand memorials. When in Paris, he will present the French Rugby Federation with a shield, on behalf of the Maoris. Later lie will visit Ireland, to receive the honorary doctorship of laws at Dublin. At tlie annual meeting of tho members of the Alasterton Alethodist Church the following officers were re-elected: —Society stewards, Alessrs T. Cresswell, R. Jamieson, C. Judd, T. K. Beckett, H. Price, W. J. Drew and A. Wellington ; assistant steward, Air R. Russell, .Ini-.; sacramental stewards', Mrs White and Airs Blinkhornc; representatives of the congregation, Alessrs W. E. Bate, S. Sheernan, J. 11. Nicholson, and Airs D. J. Williams. Air H. King was elected in place- of Air J. Moody (resigned.) With the passing of William George liny Little on Tuesday, a link with the early days of Feilding was lost. Deceased) who was in his 76th year, came to Feilding prior to- its settlement by the Emigrants and Colonists Aid Corporation, and played an active part in forming the town. He was ex-AXayor and was the oldest lodge Alaster of the Ala sonic Order in Feilding. He was also a lieutenant in the- Manchester Rides, and saw service with that body at the time of the Parihaka scare. lie is survived by one son (Air A. G. Haybittle, of Dunedin) and seven daughters (Mesdames G. J. Patrick and K. M. Little, Feilding; W. McNab, Wellington; and D. Bostock and H. Baker, Queensland, and Alisses L. Haybittle, Wellington, and N. Haybittle, (To Kuiti). Three brothers, Richard (Feilding), Frederick (London), and Henry (Wanganui), and two sisters, Mesdames D. Scott (Wellington) and Sutcliffe (Marton) abo survive him. Lodge of Sorrow was held in Feilding on Wednesday as a mark of respect to deceased.
