The soil is of a rather poor quality, being a heavy clay, hard to work.' Green and artificial manure is 'being used with good results. An experiment is -being made, with, sex en x.uieties o.f carrots, as xvell as other plants, which are looking well. The plots are clean, the rows straight, and the tools excellent. The Jlower plots, the work of the girls, are clean, the soil is well worked and the plants well finished off. Forest trees are also being grown. Clareville School was a close second. These gardens, although not large, are well kept and nicely finished off’, experiments are being carried out with seven varieties of carrots and look xvell. The other vegetabl s are looking well, the rows are straight and t(ie soil ■ worked up to a fine tilth. The tools are clean, xvell polished and a credit to the school.
