ALLEGED ARSON.
HAYSTACKS BURNED. CHARGES AGAINST FARMER. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. Occurrences which started the neighbourhood, of Mangorei some weeks ago and had their sequel at the Supreme' Court to-day, when Harris Leonard Spence, a farmer was charged on four counts with arson and theft. On the day in question, haystacks and a cowshed on neighbouring farms were set afire in quick session, and there was considerable stir in the dis : trict. The hearing was not completed today, and it is understood the defence will be based on tin? mental condition of the accused.
