VIOLENTLY IN LOVE.
SUIT REJECTED. YOUNG MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Monday. "The accused is a resident of Aoick-' land, and had failed violently in love with a girl up there. She did not return his affections, but came to Gisborne, and/he followed and went to see her. She' was busy at the time and refused to see him, whereupon he slashed his wrist with a razor,” said Sergeant Fitzpatrick in outlining the, case against a youth of ID years of age, charged in thq- S.M. ,’C-ourt this morning with attempted suicide. The acciised had since written from the hospital threatening suicide, and the medical superintendent had refused to take further responsibility.
The accused said that the letter was merely a bluff. He saw his mistake now, and would make no further aty tempt.
The magistrate said that he could not accept his word, and in view of what had happened lie would commit him to a reformative institution for six months. The suppression of his name was ordered.
