CHURCH OF EPIPHANY.

SUCCESSFUL SALE OF WORK. Heavy rain on Saturday somewhat marred the success of the party which was to have been held in Mrs Cave’s garden at High Street, in aid of the funds of the Church of the Epiphany. Iu the weather conditions ruling, the party was removed to the Kuripuni Hall. However, the ladies who had worked so arduously prior to the event were not entirely disappointed. They were r&warded with quite a good attendance and did 'brisk business with eager purchasers who invaded their laden stalls. »

During the afternoon Mr J. lorns, on behalf of the committee, thanked all those who had attended the party, and regretted that the weather had been so unkind to them.

The following were the stallholders, etc., and amount taken at each stall: — Produce: Mrs W. B. Chemiells, Mrs Leaderman, Mrs Braggins; amount taken, £4/18/-. Cakes: ‘Miss A. Asliwcll, Miss E. Nail driving: Messrs Yalden and Brett; 18/3. Christmas cake: Miss A. Ashwell, Miss E. Pearce, £l/7. Christmas pudding: Miss A. Bungate; £l. The winners of the competitions held during the afternoon are as follow: — Weight-guessing: Christmas cake, Miss Y. Edwards; Christmas pudding, Mrs- ■ Sayers. Xail driving: Ladies, Mrs G. Taylor; men, Mr Jackson. In the evening a very pleasant dance was given in the Kuripuni Hall by a ladies’ committee in connection with the garden party held earlier in the afternoon. Mrs G. W. Perry supplied the music at the piano, while items were also given on a gramophone lent by Mr G. W. Perry. Misses McKenzie and Kavanagh played extras. Those ladies responsible for the success of the dance and supper arrangements were Misses L. Boddington, X. Tressider, and F. Taylor. Mesdames J. W. Blackman and G. Taylor were chaperones. The proceeds will make a suitable addition to the funds of the Church of the Epiphany.
