Results: — MELROSE MAIDEN. 13 Arch Queen. 1 I Town Bird £ . 16 Cantab - 6 Scratched: Cynelli, King Emerald. Won by 1$ lengths, the third horse 2 lengths away. Time, 1.39. TURF TOPICS. Royal Elina has come along well during the last week or two, and this gelding should run prominently in his Feilding engagements. Star Area looks well after his race at Levin, where he was unlucky. He will be hard to beat in his engagements at Feilding. Musket Vein has been put into work again after a spell. She has put on a fair amount of condition, but she should be in good order for the Christmas meetings. The form shown recently by The Lamb suggests that he is not so brilliant as formerly, but more solid, and he has 'been paid up for the mile event at Feilding instead of the Flying. Lady Cavendish is doing good work af Hawera, and it is predicted she will not be long in winning another race or two for G. F. Moore. She will be a runner in the Feilding Stakes. Great Day lias gone on the right way since racing at. Waverley, and from the way he is galloping on the tracks he should not be long in picking up a race. He will be seen out at Feilding next week. Rapier, who showed a return to form on the concluding day of the New Zealand Cup meeting, is to be sent to compete at the Manawatu. meeting during Christmas Week, and all progressing well with the Greyspear horse he will, form one of the field for the Manawatu Cup, extending over a mile and a half.

The Absurd —Finery gelding Attractive has been sold by L. G. Paul to a Wailii sportsman. Attractive displayed a lot of pace on some occasions, but his performances were disappointing. It is probable he will be put to hurdling, at which he might do well.

Next week is one of Nukumai’s weeks as a hurdler. He. was hurdling at Wanganui, flat racing at Otaki, hurdling at Riccarton, and a -Cup horse at Levin and Ashliurst. In all these instances he ran with . credit to himself. At Wanganui he won; at Otaki he was prominent at the finish of the big handicap; lie was placed in his hurdling essays at Riccarton; he finished fourth in the Levin Cup, and second in the Ashliurst Cup.

Civility has come into the market for the Feilding Cup, and might be one of the favourites on Tuesday. She won over 84 furlongs at Wanganui in September, on which occasion she carried Sst 51b. In the Feilding Cup she is weighed at Sst lll'b, and the distance is 10 furlongs.
