The death occurred yesterday iu his Slst year of another Wellington pioneer, 4lr. Francis Sidey, who before his retirement a good many years ago was a well known auctioneer in the city. The late,Mr. Sidey was born in Perth in Scotland, where his father was Lord Mayor, and ho canie oat to Australia and then on to Now Zealand, arriving in Wellington 70 years ago.. The late Mr. Sidey was at one time Mayor of the old Melrose borough,, which portion of South WJ&ngton was absorbed into the city uwpv years ago, and he was One of the oldest Masons in the Dominion, also one of the oldest J.P.’s. Mr. Sidey leaves a family of ;one. son aid seven daughters. Mrs: Sidey .u*-d about three years ago. A quiet wedding took place yesterday at the residence of Mr and Mrs F. W. Martin, Church street, Mastertoii. The contracting: parties were Miss K. I. Reid, sister of Mrs F. W. Martin, land Mr A. M. Irvine,- of Maungaroa, Bay offtPlenty, eldest son of. Mr and Mrs A. Irvine, of Feilding. The Dev. O. &. King, of Lansdowne, officiated in the presence of near relatives of both bride and -bridegroom, ‘The bride wore a saxe blue marocain frock with hat to match. She wjus attended by her niece, Miss Lois Fulton, as bridesmaid, and Sirs J. Drummond, of Napier, nSs matron of honour. All carried suitable(bouquets. Mr Keu Irvine, brother of •the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr IF. W. Martin gave the bride away. After tjfne ceremony, Mr and Mrs Irvine left bv motor for th-fc south.
