FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT.
LABOURER KILLED. (By Telegraph—Press Avssoeiation.) DANNEVIRKE, This day. A fatal motor-ear accident occurred in High Street on Pb turd ay evening. A car contained three men, George Henry Lawry, labourer of Dannevirke, married, and a -brother of the Hustings horse trainer, Joe Lawry, aged about 41 years, who was sitting in the back seat, Archibald Ernest- Johnson, taxi proprietor, owner of the ear, and George Paris who .was driving. About fi.4o p.m. the three men went for a drive to Piripiri, returhing to Dannevirke about '8 p.m. The accident occurred at a bend in the main road near the Domain. Tiie car ran on to the footpath, and in slewing off the back portion struck the support brace of an electric light pole. Lawry sustained serious injuries, including a fracture of the skull, and died in hospital later in the evening without regaining consciousness. The others escaped unhurt. The back part of the car was wrecked.
