MONTHLY MEETING. Tin’ monthly meeting of the- Masterton Trust Lands Trust was he'd last night, there being present: —Messrs J. L, Hugh os (chairman), R. Krahagen, J. .M. Coradine, Ik G. Eton, G. Selby, A. Rippon and W. 11. Jackson. Apologies were, received from Messrs D. Castdberg and T. Wagg. The treasurer reported: —Cr. balance, £451 12s 4ii; rents, £512 13s lOd. Accounts totalling £772 Is were passed. Professor T. A. Hunter wrote thanking the Trustee? for support promised to the Workers’ Education Association, Masterton branch. The Masterton District Schools’ Library Committee forwarded particulars of books issued, and applied for a grant of £25. A statement- of accounts showed a cr. balance of 3s' fid. Mr Selby moved that the grant be made. It would be money well spent. Mr Krahagen seconded. Mr Eton said it -seemed that the Library- Committee were not m urgent need of the money, and favoured the amount being placed on next year’s estimates. The motion was carried. The Masterton Technical School Hoard asked that the annual grant be allocated for the purchase of certain equipment.- —Agreed to. The Masterton Dental Clinic Committee asked for the re-papering of the dental room. —Lett to Mr Coradine. At the November meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, a rccom mendation was received from a special committee that the deeds of the Memorial Park should be taken over by the Trust, in accordance with the request of Mi- R. Cameron. After a long discussion it was then decided, on a sugges Eon by Mr W. 11. Jackson, that the matter be deferred to a full meeting. The subject was re-opened by Mr E. G. Eton at last night ’s meeting, when two members were absent, including Mr T. Wang, who was present when the resolution was passed at the last meeting. Mr Eton, who was absent from the previous meeting, said he was surprised that the chairman had allowed the words- “full meeting” to go through. It. was a great pity, as it would block the whole thing. Mr Eton said if Mr Wagg had been present he would have moved that the motion be rescinded. It was foolish, as the matter might drag on for a year. They might never have a full meeting, lie gave notice of motion for next meet -ing that the resolution be rescinded. Applying for a -small grant, Mr H. G. Hall, hou. secretary of the Masterton Schools’ Library Committee, gave Mine interesting facts concerning the

library. Mr Hall said the books were housed in a special library room at the Central School, and were lent periodically -to various schools. Thus, largely through the Trust A generosity, the children of Masterton could avail themselves of a selection of -suitable books, second to none in the Dominion. and getting a fresh -supply. Last year the issues were as follows-: —Masterton Central 300, West 240, Lansdowne ISO, Sol wav ISO, Fernridgo 120, and the Technical School 00. As the meeting of the Masterton Trust Land’s Trust was the last lor this year, the chairman (Air J. L. Hughes) wished members a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
