KURIPUNI CSRCUOT. CAROLLING AT CHRISTMAS. The old delightful custom of candling is likely to be revived at Kuripuni this Christmas-tide. The choir of the. Methodist Church is visiting residences in the locality on the night of the 23rd instant and entertaining the occupiers to some Christmas hymns, etc. Incidentally, a collection will be made towards the expenses recently incurred in renovating and fitting out the parsonage for the newly-arrived Methodist minister and his family. Those who are familiar with the singing abilities of the. choir in question will realise that if they are favoured with a visit they are sure of a musical treat. SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. At a meeting of the Kuripuni Meth•odist Sunday School staff held on Thursday, it was decided that the annual Sunday school picnic would lie held on the 22nd January, at, as on former occasions, Solway. The minister (Mr. Bothwell) announced that during the usual school vacation period there would lie a children’s service held in the Cnurch on tire three Sunday afternoons affected. The first would bo a ‘(lower service on the 27th instant, on which occasion the children will be asked to ‘bring to the church bouquets of (lowers; after the service the (lowers would be taken to the Mastertim Hospital for distribution to the patients. Other events arranged in connection with the Methodist Church at Kunpuni are a Christmas Tree (with a real, live Father Cliirstmas) on the 21st instant; a social evening; a lecture on Malta, illustrated by lantern slides; a children’s concert; and a garden party. The proceds are to be devoted to the Parsonage Renovation Ffiud, and further details of those interesting events; Kill be announced'ill due’course.

LADIES’ GUILD. A meeting of the Ladies’ Guild Mas hold yesterday, at which the Rev. and Mrs. Bothwell were welcomed, this being'the -first -Guild meeting held- .since they had arrived in Kuripuni. . Mrs. Beckett, wife of the'-Masterton Wesley Church minister, president of the Guild, in a speech, extremely complimentary to the members for their devotion and energy in the past, asked for their continued loyalty and service in. the future under Airs-. Bothwell, is ho was to bo the new president and to whom she was now handing over her office. Mrs. Bothwell, in her reply, stated that she hoped that the relationship between her and the Guild members, and of that between all of the members would be one of good understanding because of the presence, of the principle of service by love; she hoped that their association together would be one of mutual pleasure and strength for the tasks before them as Church workors. Several matters of business were then discussed and a programme of future work arranged.
